Due to the huge pressures on resources and finances within the NHS, the wait for urgent gastro appointments is 26 weeks, whether for flare-ups or new patient diagnosis.
To improve outcomes for patients, CCR works with local hospitals to implement new models and approaches aimed at speeding up urgent gastro cases. CCR has succeeded in achieving appropriate diagnostic tests for patients with severe symptoms within a day or two. This has enabled these patients to achieve a diagnosis and/or commence treatment at the earliest stage possible. We have been instrumental in the development of CCR services which has enabled greatly improved efficiency in the management of gastrointestinal referrals including relevant treatment begun much more rapidly than before our involvement. This is just a small part of CCR's mission to improve patient treatment and care.
